Graham Richardson, General Manager at Heathwick, UK Brand Owner of Fordham, comments: “Rams Head IPA represents a departure from Fordham’s characteristic sessionability. As symbolised in the slogan, this beer challenges drinkers to defy the ordinary and take life by the horns. We are excited to see the reaction of its presence in the UK market – just the talk of its arrival amongst trade has caused quite a stir.”
The Rams Head IPA bottle label features a bold illustration of the Ram, in the patriotic US colours of red, white and blue. The design celebrates the heritage of the Fordham Brewing Company with the label referencing 1703, the year Benjamin Fordham immigrated to the United States and established the first brewery in Maryland. The eye-catching motif features on a range of promotional products including posters, T-shirts, Ram’s Head moulded tap handles and badges, as the brewery strives to position Rams Head IPA as a recognisable brand.
Imported by Heathwick Ltd, Fordham Brewing Company is playing a pivotal role in the increasing popularity of American craft beer in the UK. Originating in Maryland in 1703, the Fordham Brewing Company was reborn in 1995, from the Rams Head Tavern, Annapolis, giving the beer its name. In 2002 the Fordham Brewery Company relocated to Dover, Delaware and in 2007 purchased the Old Dominion Brewery. Fordham and Dominion have kept their individual identities, operating alongside each other, as sister craft brewery brands. Heathwick is the sole UK distributor for both Fordham and Dominion Brewing Companies.
