Bermondsey craft brewer Fourpure is proud to be partnering with People’s Captain, a craft brewery that’s on a mission to bring communities together, make a positive change and get people talking. Together the brewers are set to launch a new IPA as well as a hosting a taproom takeover to celebrate The People’s Captain Awards 2022.
People’s Captain was spearheaded by professional rugby player Greg Bateman, who after being public with his own experiences of struggling with mental health found solace in the process of brewing beers and chatting to punters. People’s Captain’s ethos is focused on brewing positivity and using the social nature of craft beer to bring people together to have meaningful conversations and have a positive social impact on mental health. As part of its mission, the brewery launched the People’s Captain Awards 2022 to raise funds for the foundation and celebrate those who have gone the extra mile as a friend and crown one lucky person the winner and award them with their very own personalised can.
The event will take place at the Fourpure Taproom on Bermondsey Trading Estate on December 2nd, with the brand-new IPA called Steadfast in collaboration with People’s Captain set to be launched exclusively on draft at the takeover. Steadfast is a fruity sessionable IPA, filled with apricot, citrus and spicy notes. All proceeds from the ticket sales and beers sold at the event will be donated to The People’s Captain Foundation, the funds raised will go towards supporting the foundations’ goal of raising £1m to support mental health initiatives.
Steve Cox, Owner, Fourpure, said “We’re thrilled to be partnering with People’s Captain as a likeminded craft beer brand on such an important mission. Every year one in four people in England alone struggle with their mental health, we hope the taproom takeover and launch of Steadfast will help to raise awareness of the problems people face and play a small part in encouraging people to turn mental health into something we’re not afraid to talk about.
We hope to raise as much money as possible for The People’s Captain Foundation and will continue to encourage discussions around mental health within the craft beer sector as it’s something we’re proud to support and help bring awareness to.”
The takeover event is set to be an evening of celebration featuring street food vans, music from DJ Woody Cook and beers from both Fourpure and People’s Captain. You can find more information about People’s Captain Awards 2022 here: https://www.peoplescaptainawards.com/ .
