General Elliott pub has new lease of life

The General Elliott pub in Croft near Warrington has received a complete makeover both inside and out following a joint investment by pub owners Red Oak Taverns and new landlord Henry Coakley.

This historic pub that dates back to the 1700’s has been completely redecorated and features new furniture, bar layout and flooring.  The exterior has new signage and lighting, the garden area offers heated apres ski style tipees. In addition, the Heathfield function room will be reopening for private dining, parties and business events and new bifold doors out to the garden will be added in the spring.

The pub has an extensive new draught beer range and wine list.  The food offer launched following the reopening includes pub classics plus innovative fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes, a “Little Generals’” menu and traditional Sunday Roasts.

Speaking about the new look General Elliott, new landlord Henry Coakley who is from Croft said, “When my local village pub became available, I knew I needed to take it over and make it a village pub for everyone. The refurbishment has enhanced the original features of the pub whilst introducing an up to date and cosy décor. It’s completely transformed inside and out and with our new drinks range, menu and entertainment programme, we are providing a great facility for Croft and the wider area”.

Adding he said, “Red Oak Taverns were easy to work with throughout the investment and they understood and were on board with all my ideas for the pub”.

Barry Lee, business development manager for Red Oak Taverns said, “Henry is from the local area so he knows the village well and has fitted in brilliantly at the pub.  The investment has upgraded the pub but kept the traditional features that makes it so special.  Together we’ve certainly been able to build a proper pub which the village can enjoy for a long time in the future”.

Alongside the pub transformation, Henry is developing the neighbouring cottage into a deli and farm shop which will be launched in the Spring.
