Graftwerk – St Austell Brewery and Pulpt release limited-edition collaboration beer

19th May 2023 – St Austell Brewery has collaborated with the team at Pulpt to brew an exciting new Small Batch release packed full of fresh, fruity flavour.

Graftwerk (5% ABV) – a Graf x Apple Pilsner – is the first of St Austell’s Small Batch Series for 2023 and is available in 500ml bottles, while stocks last.

The brew is a hybrid of Pulpt’s Gilly cider and a delicately hopped German-style lager. Watermelon and gooseberry notes from the cider complement the lager’s sweet, bready character to create a balance of sharp and satisfying fruit flavours.

Both brands, based in Cornwall and Somerset respectively, have been planning to brew in partnership together since meeting at BrewLDN two years ago.

Will Hartley, Production Manager at Bath Ales, St Austell Brewery’s sister-brewery, worked on the collaboration. Reflecting on the final result, he said: “It has a fascinating aroma and taste! I think the blend works well, elements of the cider and the beer come through on their own.

“The initial aroma is distinctively cider, sharp, fresh and appley, with some bready, malty, sweet notes coming through.”

St Austell Brewery’s Small Batch Brewery was first installed in 2016 and has been the source of many unique and innovative, limited-edition beers ever since. As well as ‘Cask Club’ beers, which are sold on cask within select pubs, the Small Batch series was bottled for the first time in 2021 – giving drinkers the chance to experience the magic of the Small Batch Brewery from the comfort of home.

Bottles are now available for purchase both through St Austell Brewery’s Online Shop, and via the Visitor Centre in St Austell.
