GREAT BRITISH STAYS IN A PUB – POPULAR WITH INBOUND TOURISTS

Stay in a Pub, the UK’s leading pub accommodation booking platform,  the brainchild of Paul Nunny, announces that 44% of all bookings made in April and May have been from overseas. European visitors are coming from Germany, Belgium Switzerland, and the Netherlands, and significant numbers are traveling long haul from the US, Canada, and Australia.

The average booking window for this inbound travel is 75 days, taking stays well into July and August and even before expenditure on food and drinks consumed during their stay, the average booking value for each property is £220.

Sophie Braybrooke, the new CEO of Stay in a Pub said: “It is great to see the increase in bookings from international visitors. At Stay in a Pub, we are spreading the word about the charm, authenticity, and warm welcome of a quintessentially British pub, beyond our shores. In our mission to support the industry, we are helping to fill pub rooms and generate important revenue through accommodation. Before the pandemic, around 17% of our bookings were from overseas, so seeing the numbers swell proportionately and in real terms is great news for the sector”.

Research by VisitBritain demonstrates the importance of pubs to the experience of so many international visitors to the UK.  Visiting a pub is one of the most popular activities for overseas visitors to the UK after dining in restaurants and shopping[1]. More than two out of every five of all international visits to the UK include at least one visit to a pub. VisitBritain’s research also shows that visitors who went to a pub during their time in the UK spent £12.4 billion in total during their trip[2]. VisitBritain’s latest wave of its international consumer research, published in March this year, showed that dining in restaurants/bars, cafes, or pubs was one of the top activities for visitors keen to visit Britain in 2022[3].

www.stayinapub.co.uk receives in the region of 50,000 visits to the site per month over the summer period from people looking for stays in traditional country inns, boutique city pubs, and affordable pub accommodation throughout the UK.
