Greek Beer Awards 2025 Ceremony on May 9th

Record Number of Entries and Expansion of the Institution

With over 130 entries from Greece, the Mediterranean, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the international Greek Beer Awards 2025 —organized since 2017— confirms the continuous growth of the brewing sector and the strengthening of the export-oriented focus of both Greek and foreign breweries.

This year’s evaluation took place on March 19th in Athens, with an expanded judging panel of international acclaim. For the third consecutive year, the judging process was conducted under the technical direction of renowned Italian writer and journalist Maurizio Maestrelli.

The number of entries, which has shown a steady upward trend since the institution’s inception, places the Greek Beer Awards among the most emerging competitions of its kind in the Mediterranean and Southeastern Europe.

The Greek Beer Awards are further elevated by the distinguished presence and leadership of professionals who are members of the esteemed British Guild of Beer Writers —a benchmark institution for excellence and expertise in beer journalism and education worldwide. Director Nicola Radisis, Technical Director Maurizio Maestrelli, and judges Judith Boyle, Markus Raupach, Christine Cryne, and Matthias Kopp bring decades of combined experience, global recognition, and deep knowledge of brewing trends and standards. Their affiliation with the Guild underscores the high-level credibility and international prestige of the competition, while their involvement ensures a judging process rooted in rigor, objectivity, and global perspective.

Once again, the “Judges Experiences” program drew particular interest, showcasing the potential of beer and wine tourism in the regions of Attica and Central Greece. Judges visited local producers and businesses, exchanged ideas, and sampled Greek products.

The Greek Beer Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, May 9th, 2025, in Athens at 7:00 p.m., as part of the World of Beer Festival. The event will take place at one of the city’s most prominent cultural venues—INNOVATHENS at Technopolis, City of Athens.

The institution is held under the auspices of the Region of Attica and the Hellenic-Italian Chamber of Commerce. The Greek Beer Awards are organized by BeerBartender.

-END OF PRESS RELEASE-

About the Greek Beer Awards: The Greek Beer Awards is the only international beer competition after blind tasting in Greece. It was organized for the first time in 2017, by BeerBartender and since 2022 it has expanded to countries in the Mediterranean, Southeastern and Eastern Europe. Breweries, microbreweries, and nomadic breweries participate in the competition, which send their samples to be tested by experienced and renowned judges, who are specially invited for this purpose to our country. With the motto: “We support good brews since 2017”, the annual Greek Beer Awards aims, among other things, to bring Greek beers into contact with the rest of the world.
