- The five-year investment is the largest the company has made to date into its HR systems to support its 40,000 team members.
- The new cloud-based HR platform brings with it a host of benefits for both the business and team members by streamlining processes and enabling faster decision making.
- Greene King is the first pub company to work with Workday on a launch of this scale.
Greene King, the UK’s leading pub company and brewer, has announced a £10m investment in its people focussed HR and payroll platform over the next five years in partnership with Workday. Designed to digitalise processes such as booking time off, viewing payslips and more, the cloud-based HR and payroll system will provide a user-friendly experience for team members.
Greene King is the first pub company to partner with Workday and roll out the platform at this scale to its 40,000 team members and it will support the business as it moves from business transformation into focussing on delivery and building people-focussed services.
The new platform will provide a host of benefits for Greene King team members, allowing them to easily access their information, and will also help to streamline processes for line managers in its pubs and offices, by providing easy to understand reports and analytics to aid decision making.
This greater range of visibility will be especially beneficial for pub managers, enabling them to make faster decisions, maximising the time they can spend focussing on delivering an exceptional experience for their customers.
The new platform will also ensure that the business is fit for the future and is able to adapt quickly to upcoming changes in employment law, such as the recently announced Employment Rights Bill, as well as providing a consistent onboarding process for team members joining the business.
Andrew Bush, Chief Experience Officer at Greene King said: “We want Greene King to continue to be a great place to work and our £10m investment in the Workday system will make navigating some of our HR systems much easier for our teams, helping them to be more efficient so they can help to deliver a brilliant experience for our customers.
“It is a strategic investment that will help us continue to build more people-focused services for our teams. This has been a project that has taken two years of partnership and collaboration with Workday to deliver a platform that fulfils the needs of the business and most importantly, works for our people.”
Daniel Pell, General Manager, UKI, Workday said: “Greene King is leading the way in modernising HR across the hospitality sector. This investment marks a bold step forward, not just in technology, but in how they support their 40,000 team members. By streamlining processes and improving access to data, Greene King is enabling managers to spend less time on admin and more time delivering great customer experiences. We’re proud to be their partner in building a more connected, people-centric business.”
The new Workday platform is being rolled out to team members across the company throughout April and May.
