Greene King’s East Coast IPA wins at World Beer Awards

Greene King’s East Coast IPA has topped the national awards at the 2019 World Beer Awards. The beer has been named country winner in the American style Pale Ale category.

East Coast IPA has gone from strength to strength since it was first brewed becoming the fastest growing top ten keg ale. *  A refreshing smooth keg ale, it combines the citrus aromas of American style IPAs with the easy drinking flavour of the finest quality English pale ale. Brewed to 4.0% abv with Pale malt, and Amarillo, Centennial, Citra and Galaxy hops, the beer was judged in a blind tasting by a panel of experts.

Meanwhile, Morland’s Old Crafty Hen, 2018 World Beer Awards winner, picked up the gold award in the Wood Aged category and as did Morland’s Old Speckled Hen Gluten Free in the Gluten-free category.

Speaking about the award wins Matt Starbuck, Greene King Brewing and Brands’ managing director said:  “We are thrilled to pick up this award for East Coast IPA, a beer that catapulted into the keg category when it first launched and swiftly became a staple for pubs and clubs throughout the UK. Along with our gold winners Old Crafty Hen and Old Speckled Hen Gluten Free, these beers have been recognised for their consistently great quality.”
