Hall & Woodhouse’s striking new £2.4 million pub-restaurant, built using 28 recycled shipping containers at Portishead Marina, opened its doors for the first time last night and the initial reaction was a mixture of amazement at the structure and respect for the designer and construction team.

Comments from guests included:
“The building is breathtaking; I can’t believe we’re dining inside a shipping container!”
“You have to see it to believe it”
“This stunning location has really put Portishead on the map!”

David Hoare, Retail Director at Hall & Woodhouse says: “Constructing this magnificent pub-restaurant is the culmination of a plan to build something truly special.  Hall & Woodhouse is a family owned brewery, with great hospitality at its core, but with this location we have really pushed the boundaries to create a destination venue that is completely relevant to its setting.  The building has to be seen to fully understand the way it fits within the surrounding maritime landscape.
“We’ve used a total of 28 recycled shipping containers to reflect the stunning dock-side location, and there are even three private dining areas that sit within individual containers, which create a truly unique dining experience – guests can now invite friends for dinner in a private shipping container!
“Hall & Woodhouse caters for all eating and drinking occasions from breakfast, coffee & cakes, and lunch to early and late dinners and is the only place in Portishead where you can get Hall & Woodhouse’s award-winning Badger Cask Ales.
“With built-in 24 hour marina facilities, a beautiful decking area overlooking the water and of course some famous Hall & Woodhouse hospitality, we really hope that this pub-restaurant which has created 55 new jobs for the area becomes a hub of the community as well as an atmospheric destination venue.”

The building itself represents a £2.4m investment in the location and has created 55 new jobs for the area.
