Brakspear is supporting its seasonal ale for December, Oh Be Joyful with the offer of a free Santa hat for every customer buying four pints in one of the 50 pubs running the incentive. Oh Be Joyful is available to all Brakspear licensees from this week.
Hopes are high for the promotion following the runaway success of a similar offer in the summer, offering a Brakspear-branded boater hat with the July seasonal ale, Hooray Henley. Timed to coincide with the Henley Royal Regatta, the hats flew out of pubs in and around the town, with around 1,500 handed out and sales of Hooray Henley up by 150% on their 2012 level.
Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said, “We’re expecting our Santa hats to become a ‘must wear’ item at office parties and other festive gatherings. And, while the boaters and the seasonal ale they supported had a particular resonance with Henley, these hats have a broader appeal, with more pubs offering them and, we’re confident, higher sales of Oh Be Joyful as a result.”
Oh Be Joyful is a 4.3% ABV rich, fruity ale with a warming finish and is always a popular choice among festive drinkers. The Santa hat offer is being backed with prominent POS in pubs.
