Hepworths joins inaugural City Beerfest

Horsham craft brewer Hepworth & Co was one of just 12 brewers to take part in the first ever City Beerfest, held earlier this month at Guildhall Yard in the heart of the capital.

As the only provider of craft lager to the Beerfest, Hepworths found a ready market among the City workers who flocked to the event for an after-work drink or two. The brewer’s Saxon lager, a 4% ABV full- bodied lager, proved to be the thirst-quencher of choice. Hepworths sold some 600 beers in just five hours.

Hepworths founder and head brewer Andy Hepworth said, “We were delighted to take part in this new beer festival, alongside other brewers from across the UK.   We were equally delighted by the response from the event’s audience of City workers to Saxon lager, which is the newest addition to the Hepworths range and already promising to become one of our biggest sellers.”

Hepworths was invited to take part in the City Beerfest as a member of the Worshipful Company of Brewers, one of the oldest of the City livery companies with origins dating back to the end of the 12th century.  The event raised over £20,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which, through its chosen charities, aims to encourage and challenge people to give more, and do more, to secure the future for the next generation.

Saxon lager was launched in autumn last year. It is brewed using four different hops to traditional German Purity laws.
