Hook Norton Brewery Proud Winners at International Brewing Awards

HookyWe are delighted to announce that two of our famous beers have won medals at The International Brewing Awards 2015.

HOOKY won a GOLD Medal in its Class in the Bottled Ale competition, and now goes forward to the International Bottled Ale Championship Trophy competition.

OLD HOOKY won a SILVER Medal in its Class in the Bottled Ale competition

These Awards have been running since 1886.  This year, over 30 judges from 16 different countries assessed nearly 1,000 beers over three days, to decide on the various winners.  The Competition is unique, in that all judges are practising, professional brewers.

James Clarke, Managing Director (brewing) commented “We are all absolutely delighted to win these awards.  It is testament to our exacting standards and dedicated staff.  It also demonstrates that whilst a traditional brewer, we are at the forefront of quality brewing”.

Hook Norton Brewery is an independent family run brewery, established in 1849.  Brewing a range of quality beers, available in pubs, bars, shops and grocery stores, Hook Norton is one of the best known and best loved British Brewers.

Old Hooky was first brewed in 1977, for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.  It soon became a permanent beer.  A beautifully balanced beer, fruity by nature with a well-rounded body and the suggestive echo of Crystal Malt.  At 4.6% alcohol, this is a premium beer, and an excellent accompaniment to roast meat dishes.

Hooky has been a part of the range for as long as anyone can remember.  A subtly balanced beer, gently hoppy to the nose with a malty fresh palate, it is eminently drinkable. At 3.5% alcohol, this is the classic session beer.
