Fuller, Smith & Turner, Stonegate Group and Greene King are just a few leading companies attending the Hospitality Apprentice Showcase 2024 (HAS) on Wednesday 7 February 2024 in the House of Commons.
Taking place during National Apprenticeship Week (5-11 Feb) for the eighth year in a row, the highly anticipated event will unite pioneers of the hospitality industry to recognise the outstanding work carried out by apprentices in the industry.
The interactive event will celebrate the diverse opportunities available to those looking to kick off their career in hospitality, demonstrating the array of job roles the sector has to offer from chefs to expert mixologists, to brewers, and professional support team apprentices.
Industry pacesetters attending HAS include Fuller, Smith & Turner, Greene King, Marston’s PLC, Stonegate Group, Mitchells & Butlers, Umbrella Training, British Beer and Pub Association, HITT Training, British Institute of Inn Keeping, Loving Hospitality and UK Hospitality. The companies will come equipped with immersive demonstrations such as cocktail making and engaging career-themed games.
Over 1,200 apprentices from the hospitality sector will meet with Lords, Ladies, and MPs to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, accompanied by employers, parents and colleagues, to reiterate the importance of cross-party support to ensure the sector’s position to continue to thrive across the country. The event is also open to media and guests from the hospitality and education sector, to discuss key sector information on apprenticeships and the careers offered by the companies participating on the day.
Joining HAS as host for the second year in a row is Alun Cairns MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, along with Kelly Tolhurst MP, Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group who has previously supported the event.
Mr Cairns commented: “I am thrilled to be hosting the Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase for the second time alongside Kelly Tolhurst MP. Apprenticeships are a fantastic alternative to university, offering a hands-on approach, that allows you to earn whilst you learn. The hospitality sector is constantly changing and evolving to complement industry needs and offers a large scope of opportunities to move up the career ladder and expand your skill set.”
“The annual Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase has proven to be an industry staple in promoting and celebrating apprenticeships as a popular learning pathway and an alternative route to career success.”
Craig Parsons, Apprenticeship Manager at Fuller, Smith & Turner said: “At Fuller’s, we take pride in offering real value and growth opportunities to people of all ages who are interested in a career in hospitality. We have a wide range of apprenticeships across front of house, back of house and support centre roles, and at all levels up to our degree-level LEAP programme for general managers.
“The Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase is one of the best days in the industry calendar. We look forward to meeting up with other hospitality companies at this popular annual event to celebrate our apprentices and their achievements. We always try and encourage our apprentices to bring a family member with them too, so they can see just how seriously hospitality apprenticeships are taken by those in government.”
