Imbibe Live raises the bar for beer and cider

Leading line-up of beer and cider seminars and exhibitors announced ahead of 10th anniversary show

Some of the world’s most cutting-edge producers of beer and cider are set to come together this July in a line-up that will feature trailblazing seminars, unique tasting opportunities, expert industry insight and an exclusive first-look at newly launched products. Attendees at this years’ Imbibe Live, the UK’s leading on-trade drinks event, are invited to join beer ambassador, Mitch Adams, and cider ambassador, Tom Oliver, to discuss emerging trends and gain insight from leading professionals who are set to showcase the world’s leading brews.

One highlight of this years’ anniversary show will be Garrett Oliver, Brooklyn Brewery’s debonair brewmaster who will return with his Adjunct Baby seminar to profile the special supplementary ingredients in brewing that make all the difference. Head Brewer at Wild Card Brewery, Jaega Wise, will introduce SIBA’s 2019 Craft Beer Restaurant Award winner, Stewart Cumming of the Curry Leaf Café who will present the Beer to Dine For session, in which he will explain why beer lists for restaurants and pubs with food options are different. With it being worthy of as much attention as a wine list, Stewart will reveal how to curate that all killer no filler beer list, and how to cope with such a wide variety of available options. Whilst award-winning author, broadcaster and Imbibe Live veteran, Pete Brown, will be taking his Beer and Music Matching feature to Centre stage.

On the cider front, Gabe Cook, The Ciderologist and Cider Director at The Beer and Cider Academy, will join Tom Oliver as they Journey to the Edge of the Beer & Cider Universe to discuss the crossover between beer and cider – where imagination and fermentation run wild. Visitors can also join Gabe Cook and Sam Wilkin, Cheesemonger and Podcaster for the Guild of Fine Food, to discover how cider fares against beer and wine when it comes to cheese pairings in In Cheese we Trust. Britain’s first pommelier, Jane Peyton, will demonstrate the Eastern Promise offered by cider producers in the East of England, credited for giving the West Country a run for its money. Further strengthening the line-up is Alvar Roosima of leading Estonian cider, Jaanihanso, a master cider maker who has studied the world of bottle fermentation and cider making and has started producing some the industry’s most innovative drinks. His session on Méthode Champenoise Cider will explore the evolution of the sector with opportunities to sample his own award-winning ciders.

In addition to a leading programme on the latest on-trade trends, attendees will be able to experience the most cutting-edge drinks innovations from both new and established drinks producers in the industry.

Representing the USA, Brooklyn Brewery will appear alongside the likes of Goose Island Brewery and North Carolina Craft Beers. A producer not to miss will be New Zealand’s craft beer pioneers, Yeastie Boys. Carlsberg will also exhibit, right off the back of its brand-new pilsner campaign, joining the likes of Shepherd Neame Brewery and West Berkshire Brewery, flying the flag for regional breweries producing beers of exceptional quality. Two producers taking no and low alcohol to the next level are Small Beer Brew Co., the world’s first dedicated ‘small beer’ brewery and Big Drop Brewing, an exceptional producer of beers with 0.5% ABV with big taste.

The organisers of Imbibe Live are excited to welcome a host of home-grown cider producers including Kent’s Dudda’s Tun, whose still ciders and fruity fusion twists are always fermented from 100% freshly pressed juice, and Warwickshire’s Napton Cidery Ltd, a new and exciting cider producer which will make its debut appearance this year. Dunkertons Cider Co. will showcase its concentrate and chemical free organic ciders and perry, naturally fermented and matured for over 12 months to deliver the characteristic Dunkertons’ ‘deep flavour’. Showcasing the very best of British cider making, sixth generation Somerset cidermakers, Sheppy’s Cider, will also show off their traditionally fermented still and sparkling ciders in bottle, BIB and keg. Look out for the company’s multiple award-winning Vintage Reserve Cider – Great Taste Top 50 winner and Best Cider at the Quality Drink Awards.
