Industry bodies renew their support for UK’s best selling beer and pub guide

Cask Marque and SIBA to sponsor the 40th edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide

CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, is pleased to reveal that both Cask Marque and the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) have renewed their support for the consumer group’s best-selling Good Beer Guide, and are sponsoring the forthcoming 2013 edition, due for release in September.

CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide is celebrating its landmark 40th edition this year, and to this day remains a wholly independent guide to the best pubs in the UK, as well as the definitive point of reference for the number of breweries currently operational across the nation.

Pub entries for the Good Beer Guide are chosen by CAMRA’s 140,000-strong membership on the quality of real ale served, with no charge for entry for pubs to appear within its pages.

The 2013 edition represents the 10th time industry accreditation body Cask Marque has backed the Guide, with the body sponsoring the pubs section. Meanwhile, the forthcoming edition will be SIBA’s second sponsorship of the title – following on from last year’s successful partnership – and they will be putting their name to the breweries section.

Nick Stafford, SIBA Commercial and Finance Director, said:

‘SIBA is delighted to be further strengthening the partnership between independent brewers and beer-loving consumers through continued sponsorship of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, and to have as co-sponsor the leading industry body dedicated to consistent quality standards.

‘By working together in this way we demonstrate our passionate commitment to good beer and great pubs, and our determination to be a united voice against the challenges that these iconic British institutions continue to face.’

Paul Nunny, Cask Marque Director, also expressed his commitment to the Guide. He said:

‘Cask Marque have sponsored the Good Beer Guide for a number of years as it is the bible for real ale drinkers. All Cask Marque pubs in the Guide are highlighted with a symbol and it must be every good cask pub’s wish to be included. Roger Protz – the editor – will have to again work hard to surpass the high standards set by previous editions.’

The Good Beer Guide 2013 is due for release on Thursday September 13th, and in anticipation of its launch, Roger Protz, CAMRA Good Beer Guide editor, said:

‘The 40th year for the Good Beer Guide is set to be a special one for everyone associated with its production, and therefore I am delighted such celebrated industry bodies are expressing their continued support. I look forward to seeing what readers think of the new edition, but in the meantime there is still much work to be done to pull it all together before September!’
