Launch date Monday 18th November
Innis & Gunn has launched Innis & Gunn Highland Cask Ale, a 7.7% brew matured in single malt casks from distilleries in the north Highland region of Scotland.
The Highlands of Scotland have come to embody the rugged, mountainous beauty of the country and its warm, characterful people. Nestled amongst the glens, lochs and villages are famed distilleries that capture the essence of this special place in the whiskies they make.
Dougal Gunn Sharp, Founder and Master Brewer, Innis & Gunn said:
“Innis & Gunn Highland Cask is an amber ale that has been matured using casks that once matured incredible Highland whiskies. We have sourced casks from the north Highlands where the whiskies are full bodied, rich, and mellow to complement the malty, aromatic and refreshing qualities of the beer.
“This is a special beer that evokes the Highlands of Scotland. The brew is complex, warming and packed full of character from the range of casks we used. It shows a delicious toffee malt character with the expected hints of buttery vanilla taken to another level by flavours of stewed fruits. This is balanced by the delicately citrusy hop character of the English Goldings, with pale, amber, crystal and roasted malts.
“Our latest Limited-Edition beer is a rare union of Scottish brewing and distilling craftsmanship, which is packaged in its bespoke gift carton and should be served well chilled.”
Innis & Gunn Highland Cask Beer is a versatile accompaniment for nearly all cheeses or for sweeter foods such as traditional or vegetarian haggis, satay chicken, pies with a good rich crust, and desserts including tarte tatin or crème brulée.
Available from Innis & Gunn’s online shop from Monday 18th November priced at £6 per 330ml bottle (www.innisandgunn.com).
