Innis & Gunn’s 12 MOONS LAGER – Aged for 12 Months, Bottled Under A Full Moon

30th August 2023 – Innis & Gunn has released 12 Moons Lager, bottled in August 2022 under a full moon and then aged for 12 months (12 moons) in 75cl bottles.

The 5.8% Lager is bottle-conditioned and unpasteurised, inspired by our ultimate timekeeper, the moon.

Innis & Gunn 12 Moons Lager Beer has been Lagered (ie: stored and aged) for a full year before being offered for purchase. This extended maturation goes well beyond the norm and results in a sublimely smooth and refreshing Lager Beer with a rewarding complexity.

Dougal Gunn Sharp, Founder and Master Brewer, Innis & Gunn said:

“We started in 2003 with the launch of Innis & Gunn The Original, a beer unlike anything that had come before it, made incredibly special by its lengthy maturation in single malt whisky casks. Ever since we have been fascinated by the effect time can have upon beer.

“Then in 2012 we saw an opportunity to launch a great premium Scottish Lager so as to shake-up a marketplace dominated with imported brews. Since then, our 4.6% Lager Beer has become Scotland’s No.1 craft lager and has recently won Gold at the prestigious Monde Selection Awards.

“Since we like pushing the boundaries of brewing, it seemed fitting to create a long-matured lager in honour of the moon. We have brewed 12 Moons Lager with both lager and ale malts, and with naked oats for texture. And like most Innis & Gunn beers, we have brewed with Super Styrian hops with their special floral aromas of lemongrass and spice.”

Innis & Gunn 12 Moons Lager should always be served ice cold with a foamy head and has been brewed for enjoyment in one of two ways:

  • The Clear Pour: Pour very gently into the glass, not disturbing the hop and yeast sediment.
  • The Hazy pour: Pour half of the beer, give the bottle a vigorous swirl, then pour the other half to produce a hazy colour and more textured mouthfeel.

The fourth beer in Innis & Gunn’s Limited-Edition range for 2023, Innis & Gunn 12 Moons Lager is available from the Innis & Gunn online shop from 30th August (www., priced at £9.99 per 750ml bottle – ideal for sharing a toast to a special occasion.

Innis & Gunn’s beers push the boundaries of brewing, using innovative techniques, ingredients and oak cask maturing methods.
