Introducing Shorebreak, Cornwall’s first Alcohol-Free craft beer

Firebrand Brewing Co at Launceston in Cornwall is entering the alcohol-free market with the launch of Shorebreak Alcohol-Free Hazy Pale – the perfect tipple for those who like their craft beer without the hangover. Joining the brand’s core range, the new, super satisfying, non-alcoholic brew is the first of its kind to be produced in Cornwall and is available to purchase in a 330ml can priced at £2.30 from the Firebrand Brewing Co website, www.firebrandbrewing.co.uk

Bursting with mango and lemongrass flavours, the clean and refreshing 0.5% beer is great for any occasion, any time of day. Brewed with Simcoe, Citra and Cascade hops for a welcoming bitterness alongside tropical fruit, Shorebreak is a flavoursome, thirst-quenching option whether you’re the driver or just taking a break from booze. What’s more, the Firebrand team have created an alcohol-free beer with body and balance without using lactose, meaning Shorebreak is suitable for everyone, including vegans.

Joe Thomson, Co-Owner and Head Brewer at Firebrand says that he became interested in developing an alcohol-free beer through a personal desire to live a healthier lifestyle. “I wanted to cut down on alcohol without giving up beer,” he says. “I tried many different styles of alcohol-free beer but found them watery, thin and lacking flavour. They were often full of lactose to add depth too. So I decided to brew one that provides everything I like, the first really great Cornish alcohol-free craft beer. Shorebreak is low-calorie, full-bodied and loaded with hops to immediately appeal to any craft beer fan.”

“Living in a county like Cornwall, the designated driver is a very important friend to have,” he continues. “Shorebreak was created for everyone to be able to enjoy beer without always feeling buzzed.”

Joe was the youngest brewer in the country when he first started brewing in 2009. He created Firebrand Brewing Co in 2013 in a bid to brew a more modern style of beer. Originally located out of a converted milking parlour on the edge of the wilds of Bodmin Moor, the brewery moved to a large industrial unit in Launceston in 2021. The space features new equipment and a taproom designed for gathering together with friends to eat, drink and be social.

Firebrand follows a philosophy of using the best, all-natural ingredients from around the world, including Cornish spring water and American hops, to create the best beers. Other top-selling Firebrand beers include Patchwork Rocket – the flagship pale ale with a palate of melon, peach and pine flavours; Thundercloud Neipa – a sweet, juicy and extremely moreish New England IPA full of intense hop flavours; and Helles Beach Cornish Lager – the go-to beer after a surf, paddleboard, or long walk on the beach, it has a biscuity and floral flavour with a hint of spice.
