Next week, the founders of The Virginia Beer Company (VBC), Chris and Robby, from the United States will be visiting London. They’ve been distributing to the UK for the past few years and are looking to continue and even expand their presence in the future.
As part of their trip, The Rake at Borough Market will be hosting a tap takeover featuring 10 beers from VBC the night of 4 May. Guild members are invited to join Chris and Robby from 5pm for the event, sampling some of their beers and enjoying conversation.
VBC has been bringing a taste of US beer trends to the UK, but they’ve also been bringing some of what they learn from the UK back to the US. As an example, they’ve been introducing many in Virginia to traditional English beer styles, like ESBs and Milds.
VBC will be donating proceeds from sales of their beer to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal fund of the DEC. The team at The Rake has told them it will be matched by the UK government. So VBC is really trying to bring its “Beer-People-Purpose” mantra with them to London.
