Join us for the Guild’s Annual Summer Party – Monday, August 1st at Sambrook’s Brewery Tap

Join us for the Guild’s annual Summer Party, held on the evening before the Great British Beer Festival.

Date: Monday, August 1st

Time: 4 – 9pm

• 4 – 5:30pm = Seminar: “Ancient Brewing in Plain Sight”

• 6 – 9pm = Summer Party

Venue: Sambrook’s Brewery Tap [SW18 1UD]

This year, we are holding an additional event for our members in advance of the Summer Party: a seminar titled “Ancient Brewing in Plain Sight” led by Guild member Tim O’Rourke.

“Traditional brewing practices persist in local communities where brewsters using knowledge passed on by word of mouth down the generations continue to produce beers in a similar way to thousands of years ago.

The talk will focus on traditional brewing in three continents – Africa, Southeast Asia and South America – where indigenous cereals are used to produce local beer. I will be joined by the MD of Stroud Brewery, Greg Pilley, who also travelled across Africa recording traditional brewing techniques.

The research suggests revised ideas on the origin of brewing and contradicts certain popular myths surrounding the brewing procedures. It will also include examples of brewing and drinking vessels to give context to the talk.”

We are delighted to be holding this year’s Summer Party at Sambrook’s Brewery, with thanks to the team for their hospitality.

All Guild members are welcome to join this free event. Please email secretary@beerguild.co.uk to RSVP by Tuesday, July 26th.
