Krombacher continues volume growth in UK

Krombacher Pils, the number one premium beer in Germany, is continuing with its growth in the UK with volume sales up by 48% for the first nine months of 2014.

The figures from January to September  – which cover the first nine months of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013 – highlights the success of Krombacher Pils in the UK market.

The volume of beer sold in Keg continues to grow by 30% while volume sales of bottles are up 72%. The volume of sales in cans has increased by 429% driven in part with its current stocking in Morrisons.

Sales of Krombacher’s other beers also continue to rise. Krombacher Dark is up by 12% while Krombacher Weizen is up by 10%.

This news comes as Krombacher recently launched it 5% ABV Bavarian-style beer Krombacher Hell in the UK. The full-bodied beer, has a subtle touch of hops which means it is less bitter, is currently available as an on-trade exclusive.

Speaking about the news, UK sales director Stephan Kofler said: “Krombacher continues to buck the downward trend of beer sales and it is going from strength to strength in the UK market.

“The UK has been identified as a strategic market for Krombacher. We’re confident that Krombacher volume sales in the on trade will continue to grow.”
