While Germany’s strike force fluffed their lines at the Euros last summer, the country’s leading premium beer brand Krombacher made no such error after netting a hat-trick with its famous Pils, moreish Weizen and decadent Dark launching in Ocado.
Fiercely independent, family-run and with a deep respect for nature, Krombacher has been producing its high-class beers exclusively in the small town of Krombach, nestling in the beautiful Siegerland Hills of Westfalia, central Germany, since 1803.
Stephan Kofler, Krombacher’s Sales & Marketing Director UK & IRL, said:
“We’re delighted to have this dazzling trio in Ocado for the late summer months, autumn and festive season ahead. Our fan base continues to grow around the UK so it’s great to be able to reach Ocado’s discerning consumers and provide them with three beers oozing real provenance, absolute authenticity and most importantly, unbelievable flavour.”
Krombacher Pils – 4.8% abv, RSP – £2 per 500ml bottle
Golden in colour with an aroma beautifully balanced between hops and malts, Krombacher’s famous Pils is crisp, clean and full in flavour with that classic refreshing bitter finish. The perfect sundowner alongside some salty loves, the Pils is also fantastic with fish, pork and spicy Asian dishes.
Krombacher Weizen – 5.3% abv, RSP – £2 per 500ml bottle
Full-bodied and fruity, Krombacher Weizen is a naturally cloudy, refreshingly sparkling wheat beer with soft, sweet honey and banana aromas. Fresh, beautifully balanced yet complex on the palate with a restrained bitterness that leads to a fruit-forward finish. Versatile when paired with food, working with chargrilled meats and veg, fish and even fruit desserts.
Krombacher Dark – 4.7% abv, RSP – £2 per 500ml bottle
Made using hand-selected varieties of dark roasted malt and the finest aromatic hops, Krombacher Dark is full-bodied dark lager with a light bitterness and a punchy, malt-spice character. With notes of liquorice on the nose, the beer has hints of caramel and coffee with a hoppy bitterness that asserts itself slowly but with satisfying intensity. Try alomngside roast beef, spicy meats or even with a big slice of chocolate cake.
Krombacher recently linked up with 10 talented chefs from around the UK to launch a Chef Pairfection recipe book to support local pubs and restaurants. www.issuu.com/krombacher_international/docs/krombacher_recipebook_2020_issuu
Adhering to the German Beer Purity Law of 1516 (Reinheitsgebot) but relying on artistry, experience and above all passion, Krombacher’s 55 Master Brewers ensure no corners are cut in their pursuit of perfection.
Combining time-consuming methods of the traditional German brewers with state-of-the art technology, the brewery only uses the best, 100% natural and wholesome ingredients. This includes the finest two-row summer barley, Siegel hops from Hallertau and the brewery’s own specially cultivated Krombacher Pilsner Superioris yeast, which is used in one brew only.
For the precious water, Krombacher beers benefit from the local Felsquellwasser® found in 48 wells within 3km of the brewery. The special water is naturally soft and low in mineral content and is the only water ever used to brew Krombacher beer, providing the beer with its unique, recognisably refreshing, pure and crisp taste.
The brewery has achieved consecutive year-on-year double-digit UK sales growth since 2012 with over 300 draught taps now in operation in the UK.
Success in the ON-Trade for its comprehensive draught, bottle and can offering, plus it’s low/no alcohol range, has also bolstered OFF-Trade sales with the brand now listed in Co-op, Booths, Bargain Booze, Filshill Keystore, Majestic, Morrisons, Ocado, Oddbins, Spar (north of England) and Tesco.
Krombacher is imported into the UK by Morgenrot and Oakham Ales.
