Krombacher Strengthens Selection with Non-Alcoholic Weizen

Following the success of the Krombacher Low Alcohol Pils, Germany’s leading premium beer brand has enhanced its range with the addition of its Non-Alcoholic Weizen

Joining the brand’s already illustrious selection of premium German beers, the new SKU will be rolled out immediately in 50cl bottles in cases of 12.

Looking to tap into the growing market for quality-tasting low and no alcoholic beers, the wheat beer will be targeted at the ON/OFF trade ahead of the summer.

Krombacher Non-Alcoholic Weizen (Less than 0.5%ABV)

Brewed with Hallertau hops and fresh mountain spring water, the new Weizen is equally cloudy and bright in appearance with the fresh banana-like aromas finely balanced against the malt and light hoppy notes. Finely sparkling and full in flavour, the beer is beautifully balanced with a finish to savour.   Best accompanied with light dishes such as fish, poultry or seafood but also great with zesty salads.

In Germany, non-alcoholic wheat beer is often drunk by marathon runners and triathletes for its recovery properties.  In fact, research from the Department of Preventative and Rehabilitative Sports Medicine of the Technische Universitaet Muenchen highlighted that the consumption of non-alcoholic wheat beer has a positive effect on athletes’ health.

Stephan Kofler, Krombacher’s UK & Italy Sales & Marketing Director, commented:

“Not only have campaigns like Dry January shown that there is a real demand for low and no alcohol beers but it’s made people realise that there are now some fantastic tasting options available of varying styles. Whether it’s down the local pub or at a major supermarket, you’re now seeing plenty of choice and I believe our Weizen will prove a welcome addition to the arena. Brewed the same way as our full-strength Weizen but using our special de-alcoholisation process to retain maximum flavour, I think it will quickly become a favourite, especially amongst the runners and cyclists gearing up for an active summer.”

About Krombacher

Krombacher beers have been produced exclusively in the small town of Krombach, nestling in the beautiful Siegerland Hills of Westfalia, central Germany since 1803, adhering to the German Beer Purity Law of 1516 (Reinheitsgebot).

Relying on artistry, experience and above all passion, Krombacher’s 55 Master Brewers ensure no corners are cut in their pursuit of perfection.

Combining time-consuming methods of the traditional German brewers with state-of-the art technology, the brewery only uses the best, 100% natural and wholesome ingredients including the finest two-row summer barley, Siegel hops from Hallertau and its own specially cultivated yeast.

For the precious water, Krombacher beers benefit from the local Felsquellwasser® found in 48 wells within 3km of the brewery. The special water is especially soft and low in mineral content making it perfect for brewing.

The proudly independent, family-run brewery has achieved consecutive year on year double digit UK sales growth since 2012 with over 300 draught taps now in operation in the UK.

Success in the ON-trade for its comprehensive draught, bottle and can offering plus it’s low/no alcohol range, has also bolstered OFF-trade sales with the brand now listed in Booths, Bargain Booze, Majestic, Morrisons, Ocado and Tesco.

Krombacher is imported into the UK by Morgenrot and Oakham Ales.
