Liberation Group organises unique day for heroes

The Liberation Group has organised a unique day out for injured service personnel at Bath Rugby, as part of its long-standing association with Holidays for Heroes Jersey (H4HJ).

A party of 15 was yesterday treated to a visit to Bath Rugby’s outstanding training facility at Farleigh House, where they were able to see the Aviva Premiership side preparing for their home clash with London Irish this Friday.

Liberation Group is shirt sponsor of Jerseyman Matt Banahan, the Bath winger who is enjoying a terrific season with the club. Banahan was instrumental in making Monday’s visit to Farleigh House possible as he is also an ambassador for H4HJ.

As well as the tour of the Bath training centre, the ‘heroes’ and their supporters were treated to lunch at The Mill in nearby Rode, which is part of Butcombe Brewery’s managed pubs estate. Butcombe Brewery was acquired by the Liberation Group in January.

Mark Crowther, Chief Executive of Liberation Group said ‘We are big supporters of H4HJ and we saw an opportunity to create a special event for some of the service personnel they work with in the UK, particularly the Hasler Company, Royal Marines, and to raise awareness of the amazing work H4HJ do by providing holidays for injured service personnel in Jersey. Matt Banahan is a fantastic ambassador for H4HJ and we are very grateful to him, and to Bath Rugby, for making this happen.’

Richard Woodhouse of H4HJ said ‘Liberation Group has consistently supported our work on Island but this is the first time we have been able to call on their resources to organise something for our ‘heroes’ in the UK. The day was a huge success and one that will remain in the memories of those who went along for some time to come.’ Ends
