Liberation Brewery’s Craft Pale Ale has won the Gold Medal in the International Keg Ale Competition at the International Brewing Awards. The beer claimed the top prize for the Ale 2.9% – 4.4% ABV class. The Brewery’s original Liberation Ale also claimed a Silver Medal in the International Cask Ale Competition for the Cask Ale 3.9% – 4.3% ABV class.

The International Brewing & Cider Awards judges assessed more than 1,100 beers and ciders from over 50 countries to select medallists in each category. The Awards are unique in requiring that all 45 of the judges are currently working as brewers or cider makers. They select the winners through a consensus approach.

Mark Crowther, CEO of Liberation said:

“It a terrific achievement for our brewery to receive international recognition through the Brewing Awards. We’re particularly proud of our Craft Pale Ale, claiming its first Gold Medal. It’s an honour for our beer to win such a rigorous global contest, against such incredible competition. Liberation’s success at these awards reflects the hard work of everyone in our brewery. Our fingers are firmly crossed for April’s Championship.”

Liberation’s Ales are sold across the Channel Islands and the group’s 25 pubs in the South West. They are also exported through selected pub chains including JD Wetherspoons. After winning the Gold medal, the Craft Pale Ale goes forward to contend to be the Champion Beer in its category. The Championship winners will be announced at a ceremony held at London’s Guildhall on 26th April which will be attended by medal winners and others from the global brewing and cider industries.
