On the 5th and 6th of July, Little Earth Project brewery are hosting their third annual beer festival, Little Earth Fest, at their Suffolk countryside location at the Edwardstone White Horse Inn, approximately 6 miles from Sudbury.
One of the UK’s most unique beer festivals will be taking place at the rural Suffolk pub. Little Earth Fest brings producers of mixed fermentation and wild ales and ciders into one place to serve their beer. Producers travel from all parts of the UK, including Sussex, Scotland, Kent, Wales and more. They all use varying methods of natural fermentation, foraging for ingredients, barrel ageing and blending and both historical and modern practices to create truly interesting beers and ciders to share.
Host brewery, Little Earth Project, is a small brewery that only produces beers using wild yeasts sourced from natural yeasts from the skins of apples of a cider they also produce. These beers tend to have many shared characteristics of dry ciders, or even wines, and beers similar to this have been made in Belgium for centuries. As well as always having a few keg lines & bottles at the White Horse Inn, they regularly ship their small batch beers across the UK and have exported to countries such as Italy, Belgium, Poland, Norway and the Netherlands. Little Earth Project was founded on the premise of producing beers with a link to the countryside that surround the brewery rather than seeing brewing as an industrial process. The festival will be showcasing brewers with a similar ethos.
The festival will take place over the Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th of July with the festival tent open from midday until 9pm. The pub will be open as usual offering a selection of other drinks, sourdough pizza, cheese and charcuterie boards and snacks. There will be different food trucks visiting over the weekend serving up everything from burgers and Thai to raclette and Indian street food.
A shuttle service will be running to and from Sudbury train station throughout the day. Tickets for the shuttle are available from the Little Earth Project webshop.
The Venue
The Edwardstone White Horse Inn is a classic country pub that prides itself on focusing on great beer and cider, sourcing from independent breweries, cideries and other producers from across the UK. The bar has over 20 beers and ciders on tap at any one time, with lagers, pale ales, IPAs and dark beers represented. The food offered is simple but perfectly complements the drink offering. Boards of local cheese and charcuterie served with homemade bread and pickles, and delicious homemade 24 hour ferment sourdough pizzas. While fully booked for the festival, there is a campsite on premises as well as 2 self catering holiday cottages. It’s located in the village of Edwardstone between Sudbury and Hadleigh, about 30-40 minutes drive from Colchester, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.
