Liverpool firm favourite Albert’s Schenke has opened a sister venue on Bold Street with the new Albert’s Schloss partnering with local, independent brewery Neptune to create their very own Pale Ale.
The brand new 4% Mersey Pale is brewed with US Cascade and Centennial hops and described as packing a refreshing citrus punch, with light biscuity notes, and a pleasing bitter finish. A zesty and easy-drinking pale that is aimed to appeal to a wide range of palates.
Neptune has been named Merseyside Brewery of the Year 2020 by ratebeer.com and has just completed a brewery move and expansion due to the increasing popularity of their beers. Albert’s Schenke has been serving Neptune beers since the bar’s opening back in the summer of 2019, collaborating on events such as bar Tap Takeovers, and members of the bar’s team have regularly taken part in Neptune’s yearly International Women’s Day celebratory brew day.
Neptune’s Sales & Beer Experience Manager Chess Slattery worked closely with the Albert’s Schloss team to ensure the collaboration beer was perfect for the venue:
“It’s well-known that the venues in the Albert’s Schloss and Schenke family have a love for serving top-notch beers which is a dream for breweries like us who are always keen to partner with places who share that passion for showcasing the best of brewing and serving it with care.”
“You think of a visit to Albert’s Schloss and Schenke and you can’t help but embrace the fun-filled and open, welcoming atmosphere. It was crucial that Mersey Pale reflected this which is why we focused on an accessible strength that still packs a delicious punch with a refreshing and vibrant character.”
Neptune welcomed Albert’s Schloss’ Andrew Chesworth-Wigger, Ellie Lewis and Maddie Evans to brew the first batch of Mersey Pale where they got stuck in and didn’t shy away from the heavy work of mashing in.
Andrew Chesworth-Wigger, the North West venues’ General Manager, is proud of the close partnership:
“When we agreed to open Albert’s Schloss in Liverpool we were committed to working with local suppliers. Part of this exciting journey included speaking to long-term partners Neptune Brewery, who we knew shared many of our values. The brewery team was keen to have us involved in brewing the beer with them, which was fantastic. We will be proudly serving Mersey Pale at all times alongside some of the other best beers in the world at our new palace on Bold Street.”
“We would like to thank all at Neptune Brewery for making our dream come true. Prost, la!”
The new Albert’s Schloss had its opening to the public on Friday 2nd December.

About Neptune Brewery:
Neptune Brewery has been brewing modern beers, inspired by tradition, in North Liverpool since 2015 and are proudly independent.
Their beers are naturally conditioned and all the “uns” – that’s unfiltered, unpasteurised and unfined – ensuring the greatest flavour in each brew. It also means their beers are vegan friendly as they want as many people as possible to enjoy them.
They brew a core range of popular and accessible beers accompanied by an eclectic and ever-changing rotation of seasonals, rarities and collaborations – available in cask, keg and cans.
