Guild member and London beer expert Des de Moor is extending his popular London brewery heritage walks, which previously only took place during London Beer City week, on a semi-regular basis. The next five-mile Porters, Peers and Pilgrims walks are scheduled for Sunday 15 October and Thursday 28 December. They include the surviving Victorian splendour of Whitbread and the original Truman’s, the site where porter was first perfected, a crossing of Tower Bridge with views of Courage’s Anchor Brewhouse, the place where Quaker bankers took the opportunity to get rich beyond the dreams of avarice, and the Borough’s last coaching inn. Des, who also now regularly leads tours of contemporary breweries in Bermondsey and elsewhere for London Brewery Tours, provides an expert commentary along the way.
