Bristol, UK, March 8th, 2025 – Award winning Lost and Grounded Brewers are proud to present their latest beer offering ‘Together Sounds Better’ a 3.2% Blackcurrant Berliner-style Weisse, brewed with and for the women who make the beer industry special.
Since 2014, International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) has been used as an opportunity to bring women from all corners of the beer and hospitality industry together to create delicious brews, with the goal of uniting women and raising money for women’s causes. Once a women dominated profession, women now represent roughly 30% of those employed in the beer industry, with only 3% being brewers. Lost and Grounded wanted to celebrate the women who pour their beer every day and do it despite frequent challenges and stigmas. So, this year they threw open the doors of their brewery and welcomed an amazing group of women who love and work in the beer and hospitality industry to prove one thing – women belong in beer!
Co-founder Annie Clements is a passionate advocate for women in the beer industry – “It was such a huge opportunity to meet with our peers and discuss our issues and achievements. We continue to strive for a more inclusive world, and not only champion women in our workplace, but highlight atrocities against women across the globe.”
Brought together under the banner of this year’s theme ‘Unite Society’, the fruit of their labour is ‘Together Sounds Better’. With the signature tartness of a traditional Berliner Weisse, coupled with the distinctive colour and tang of blackcurrant, this is a beer with a big character, and a bite to make you sit up and take notice!
Annie is proud to be in a position to highlight the challenges facing women in the industry, and champion a new generation of Brewsters – “Hey! Jane Austen brewed beer when she wasn’t busy writing novels! Fast forward to the present and we have a new revolution of women making some serious waves throughout the brewing world. Over the past decade, there’s been a steady increase in the number of women working in brewing. I’m certainly excited to be right here, right now, working amongst incredibly talented women across varying roles locally, nationally to globally.”
This is more than a beer with a message, it is also a beer with a purpose. Each year, the organisers of IWCBD ask the participating breweries to nominate a cause that will benefit Women in their community. So, 10p from the sale of each can of ‘Together Sounds Better’ will be donated to Womankind, a Bristol based charity that offer counselling, helpline support and befriending schemes for women.
This is a charity close to Annie’s heart: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the incredible women from Womankind Bristol for joining us on our brew day and to Kyra for speaking to our community about their commitment to equality and inclusion for women. They help hundreds of women every year to improve their mental health and well-being so they can experience a better quality of life.”
When summing up the day, Annie was pragmatic about the enormity of the challenge ahead, but offered these words of optimism: “Although significant barriers to gender equality remain, when women support other women, incredible things happen”
‘Together Sounds Better’ will be pouring in the Lost and Grounded taproom on March 8th, marking International Women’s Day 2025. It will then be available in a venue near you from Monday 10th March.
