Market Taverns Acquires historic Crown & Anchor, W4

London based Market Taverns has acquired the historic Crown & Anchor pub in Chiswick as the estate grows to 15. This follows the earlier acquisition of the Spencer Arms, Putney.

The Crown & Anchor is thought to be one of Chiswick’s oldest pubs, dating back to around 1825.  The pub has seen many custodians over the years, most notably Young’s who early in the 20th Century adorned the now listed frontage with ornate terracotta tiles and panels. “The Crown & Anchor is a welcome addition to the Market Taverns estate”, said Operations Director Adrian Laws.  “It sits prominently opposite Turnham Green, combining contemporary style with its rich heritage creating a homely bar and offering a fantastic function room with views over the green. We can’t wait to add our touch of Market Taverns magic as we welcome guests old and new just in time for the festive season.”

Backed by serial entrepreneur Rolf Munding, Market Taverns is an independent group of 15 British pubs, located in range of key London locations including the bustling heart of Borough Market, Holborn, and South-West London.
