Marston’s Wins at Annual MIDAS Awards

Marston’s has won two prestigious awards at the Menu Innovation and Development Awards (MIDAS) which celebrates and recognises innovative and creative talents within the foodservice industry. Winning both ‘Neighbourhood Pub Menu’ for the company’s Village format that is available across 48 pubs, and ‘Head of Food’ for Nicola Arrow, Head of Food Category Management makes Nicola Marston’s first female winner of this industry award.

Nicola Arrow said: “My colleagues secretly nominated me for this category, so I was even surprised to be nominated amongst some really credible peers in the industry let alone win it. Billington Foodservice who sponsored the award, spoke about how there needs to be more female leaders within the industry and with the awards taking place so close to International Women’s Day I was extremely proud to win.”

The ‘Head of Food’ award celebrates individual performance and experience in developing creative food menus. Nicola’s expertise has led development across nearly 1000 pub menus, most recently Marston’s Rotisserie menu which recognising a shift in customer lifestyle, focussed on healthier alternatives across the whole offering. Whilst, the ‘Neighbourhood Pub’ award championed the ethos of ‘Village’ by capturing the community spirit of these pubs. With the majority of locals cooking and working in these pubs, Marston’s created a menu that worked with the community’s input and demonstrated a relevant and creative menu offering.

Claire Yates, Assistant Menu Development Manager for Village said: “The Village menu has been growing from strength to strength the last few years. This award is an amazing achievement to everyone who has been involved with Village – from the team at Head Office who create and develop the offer, to the operators that bring the menu alive in the pubs have truly made it the success that it is.”
