Micro Brewery celebrates gluten free shortlist

A Yorkshire micro brewery is celebrating after its best selling

gluten free beer has been shortlisted for a national award.

Wold Top Against the Grain, brewed by East Yorkshire based Wold Top Brewery, has been shortlisted in the Gluten Free Beer category of the Free From Food Awards.

Commenting on the nomination, brewery owner Gill Mellor said; “We’re really pleased that Wold Top Against the Grain has been recognised by the organisers of the awards as one of the country’s leading gluten free beers. We have done exceptionally well to compete with much larger breweries to reach this point.”

The Free From Food Awards are organised by Foods Matter, the leading on and offline resource for allergen intolerance and sensitivity, and the results will be announced at a presentation and networking party hosted by Anthony Worrall Thompson on 17th April 2012 at the Museum of London in Docklands, London. The Awards will also be showcased at the Allergy & Free From Show at Olympia in May.

Established in 2003, farm based Wold Top Brewery brews a range of traditional real ale from home and Wolds grown malting barley, the finest hops and pure, chalk-filtered Wolds water. It supplies its cask and bottled ales to pubs, off licences, independent retailers, farm shops and delis throughout Yorkshire and further afield. Wold Top Against the Grain is also available in the Friends of the RA bar and in the Restaurant at the Royal Academy for the duration of the Hockney exhibition.
