Milton Keynes residents set to welcome new McMullen & Sons pub at Campbell Wharf

Award-winning developer Crest Nicholson, Milton Keynes Development Partnership and McMullen & Sons have partnered up to deliver a brand new premium pub at Campbell Wharf in Milton Keynes. Construction will commence this month (January 2020) to transform the site of a former car park into an individually designed, bespoke family-friendly local public house, with build completion expected in Autumn 2020.

Situated on the Grand Union Canal, the pub will offer a brand-new social hub and destination for residents and the local community to enjoy. Offering indoor seating and 66 parking spaces, the pub will also feature a beautiful outside terrace and south-facing beer garden overlooking the marina on a key leisure route for cyclists and walkers along the canal. The pub will also support the local community by also creating over 60 jobs.

McMullen & Sons is a Hertford-based family owned brewer with a wealth of knowledge and experience delivering high-quality public houses in London and the surrounding counties, including Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire. McMullen’s currently own two popular family-friendly pubs in Milton Keynes, including the Prince George at Tattenhoe and the Old Beams at Shenley Lodge.

Peter Cusdin, Development Director at Crest Nicholson, said: “We are delighted McMullen & Sons will be starting the construction of the pub in January.  When it opens later this year, it will become an integral part of our successful Campbell Wharf scheme. This is a fantastic partnership project, as McMullen & Sons share many of our core values when it comes to delivering high-quality, family-focused community spaces. When complete, the pub will provide another attraction for residents to spend time together and cultivate a sense of belonging.”

A spokesperson for McMullen & Sons said: “We are delighted to build and open one of our Destination Inns pubs in Campbell Wharf. The new site will follow our sister pubs, The Prince George (Chicken & Grill Pub) and Old Beams (Destination Inn). We hope to deliver our first delivery with either our steam dray or the shire horses late summer and the team are excited to meet their new guests”

Campbell Wharf is a thriving new community of 383 new homes, including 51 houses and 332 apartments, just minutes from the centre of Milton Keynes. The new pub is the first of many amenities which are being delivered for the community including a new 111 berth marina, café, restaurant, a mix of retail units and a new footbridge linking the two sides of the canal. These amenities are part of the residential-led mixed use scheme, which aims to transform and revitalise a previously unused part of Central Milton Keynes.

The first residents at Campbell Wharf have moved into Canal House and Wharf View, which form the first phase. Union Court, the latest release, is now available for purchase and the development is expected to be fully completed by 2023.

One, two and three bedroom apartments are currently available at Campbell Wharf, starting from £225,000. There is only one penthouse apartment remaining in the first release, which benefits from amazing views of the marina and surrounding landscape.
