True Maharaja is a premium, handcrafted beer infused with cardamom and is the first of its kind available in the UK. Brewed by Modha Ales, it is inspired by classic eastern flavours and made using entirely natural ingredients, including real cardamom pods.
True Maharaja’s is made of the finest Maris Otter Malt, quality crafted hops infused with cardamom pods. Its character is delicately balanced, with a warm amber colour and white foamy head. Its flavour is enhanced by cardamom’s spiced peppery notes which bring to the beer an aromatic, resinous fragrance, slightly smokey with a subtle mint finish. The aroma is refreshing and the beer’s unique taste cleanses and revitalises the palate while its texture is luxurious and smooth.
Cardamom is prized for its medicinal benefits and while synonymous with Indian cuisine, is also a key ingredient in Nordic baking while also gaining popularity in international cuisine. This makes True Maharaja well suited to accompany a variety of dishes or as a stand-alone drink.

True Maharaja is 4% ABV and available in 50cl format. It is currently available in selected leading restaurants such as the Michelin-starred ‘Tamarind of Mayfair’ and will launch in the off-trade shortly.

Notes to editors – about Modha Ales
Modha Ales was set up in April 2014 and brewed its first batch of True Maharaja in October 2014 – currently working on the next spiced variant of its beer, with a view to producing a whole range of True Maharaja spiced beers.
Modha Ales tested the market with True Maharaja in 2015 and the beer won a bronze medal at the IBC 2015 – recipe and method have since been refined. True Maharaja was then shortlisted for the Small Producers Quality Food Awards in 2016.
