Miles Chesterman has joined Hogs Back brewery as Head Brewer.  Miles will work closely with Mo Zeiher, who will continue with day-to-day brewing as First Brewer. Mo has been with the brewery since its foundation in 1992 and has been responsible for developing many of the award winning beers.

Miles has most recently been running the Molson Coors Burton Brewery South (the old Bass Burton Brewery) as Brewing Operations Manager. He was previously the Technical Brewer responsible for flavour matching and brewing Fosters at Burton. Prior to that he spent nine years working for AB, Stag Brewery in London. Miles was brought up in Alton and remembers Hogs Back brewery from those years. This move gives him the opportunity to broaden his management experience and have a hands-on role in all aspects of brewing, new product development and plant development as Hogs Back grows.

Comments Rupert Thompson, Chairman, Hogs Back Brewery, “We are really pleased to have Miles join our already strong brewing team.  He will be leading our brewery development programme and working on new product development, an area where we have some exciting plans!

Hogs Back Brewery based in Tongham, Surrey is best known for their flagship real ale, ‘T.E.A.’ (Traditional English Ale), which has proved to be a favourite of cask conditioned ale drinkers throughout the UK and is the proud winner of many awards.

The Hogs Back Brewery is an independent brewery based in Tongham, Surrey. The original brewhouse was part of an 18th century dairy which then expanded into a pigsty and other farm buildings. It originally took its name from the ancient roadway and trading route between Guildford and Farnham, the Hog’s Back, today less romantically known as the A31.

The brewery was established in 1992 by Martin Zillwood-Hunt and Anthony Stanton-Precious. Previously, Martin had had his own courier company, and Tony was a Land Surveyor/ Cartographer.

In January 2012, Rupert Thompson, former chief executive of Refresh UK, one-time brewers of Wychwood and Brakspear beers, became the new chairman of Hogs Back Brewery after acquiring the interest of Anthony Stanton-Precious. Hogs Back supplies over 1,000 outlets in its South East heartland.
