Multi-award winning Ilkley Brewery launch their new can range.

The decorated Yorkshire-based craft beer brewery is pleased to announce the introduction of some of their bestsellers, canned.

Both their Rye Session IPA called Alpha Beta and India Pale Ale called Lotus are now available to purchase in cans, sold in boxes of 12x330ml from quality suppliers nationwide, online and from the brewery itself.

Despite 2016 having been a hard year for breweries (due the uncertainty and currency fluctuations caused by BREXIT as well as an increasingly busy marketplace), Ilkley Brewery came out stronger than ever. The ever-growing Living Wage employer now sees almost £2million in annual turnover, employs 19 and is able to produce more than 50,000 pints per week.

The last 18 months have been spent modernising and looking to the future. With a market swimming in quality craft beers, Ilkley intends to continue to stand out; innovating, expanding and investing as well as continuing to rely on quality ingredients and a skilled team.

Canning is an important part of today’s craft beer industry, and was the next natural step for Ilkley Brewery. Canning is a more environmentally friendly, fresher and more lightweight way to get beer to consumer. There’s also no chance of light affecting the beer, as with bottles.

Luke Raven, Ilkley Brewery Director:

“It’s been an exciting journey to get to this point. We have for a long time seen the benefits of cans, but wanted to ensure that every step of the process was done right.

From a sales point of view there are more and more opportunities for cans, where an expensive draught install, or just the safety aspect of glass means doors would otherwise be closed. Cans open that door: beers in the park, at a gig venue, train beers. We are focused on quality too, and knew that if we were going to put our great beer in cans, it had to be using the best equipment and techniques, and in the best looking can we could imagine. Grab one and see what the fuss is all about!”

Ilkley Brewery

Ilkley Brewery started making beer in 2009, as a small enterprise conceived to serve the local community. It was rooted in traditional beer styles , focusing on cask ale and a few supplementary hand-bottle bottle-conditioned lines.

The brewery quickly won a strong set of awards, from SIBA and CAMRA golds to Great Taste awards. Ilkley Brewery are looking to strengthen the importance of beer and food matching.

Cask proudly remains the core of Ilkley Brewery, but for years it has been developing beers to suit every palate, and to be served for every occasion, be it in cask, on keg, in bottle and now in cans.
