National Pubwatch Awards

At last Wednesday’s Annual Beer Awards Dinner in central London the inaugural National Pubwatch Award was presented to the Northampton Pubwatch scheme. The scheme’s impressive range of responsible drinking initiatives and clear commitment to partnership working was singled out by the judges. In addition, Chester and Aylesbury Pubwatch schemes were “highly commended” for their outstanding contributions to promoting social responsibility in their local areas.

Nigel Evans MP, Pubwatch President, presented all three finalists with their awards, which were judged by a panel of National Pubwatch Committee members and industry experts. The nation-wide awards aim to recognise local schemes that encourage safer social drinking environments in licensed premises and will run again in 2013.

Steve Baker, Chairman of National Pubwatch said: “We were delighted with the number and quality of entrants we received for this launch award. The National Pubwatch Award acknowledges the fantastic work and great practice undertaken by local Pubwatch schemes across the UK and their efforts to improve safety for all”.
