Neptune Brewery collaborate with Liverpool Everyman to celebrate 60 years of theatre

Independent brewery, Neptune Brewery, has partnered with the renowned Liverpool Everyman to celebrate 60 years of theatre with the launch of a brand new beer, 1964.

An exclusive collaboration, 1964 is a delicious 4.4% Hazy New Zealand Pale and will be available soon, in draught and cans at the Hope Street theatre’s bar for audiences to enjoy pre and post performances, or alongside seasonal dishes in their Street Café. Tropical fruits on the palate, with notes of white grape and a refreshing citrus hit, making it the perfect drink for beer-lovers and newcomers alike.

The celebratory local partnership comes after many years of the Liverpool Everyman stocking the award-winning brewery’s beers, and hosting food and drink pairing events in their restaurant. A true collaboration, colleagues from the theatre joined in on the brew day at Neptune’s site in Bootle, getting involved in all aspects of the beer-making process.

Julie O’Grady, Co-owner of Neptune Brewery, said: “It’s an honour to have brewed 1964 in collaboration with the Liverpool Everyman. It is a much-loved theatre that is synonymous with the city, and many of us here at Neptune have grown-up watching performances there or enjoyed visiting with friends and family. As a fellow Liverpool business, we’re thrilled to be a part of the celebrations and are incredibly proud to have produced this special beer to mark their 60th birthday.”

Founded in 1964, the Liverpool Everyman has built a reputation for its ground-breaking work and become home to many notable names and performances. In 2014, the building reincarnated into the iconic space it’s known as today – becoming the first theatre in the UK and first building in Liverpool to win the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize.

Mike Lancaster of Liverpool Everyman, said: “We were absolutely delighted when Julie and Les from Neptune proposed the idea for a collaboration on an Everyman Theatre 60th Birthday brew. The brewery shares lots of our core values and it feels like a real kindred partnership. For the past 60 years the Everyman Theatre has forged forward with creativity and experimentation at its core, paying respect to its history whilst also looking forward to the future. After meeting with Julie and Les at their brewery it was clear that their approach to embracing the art of creating beer fits with us perfectly.

The whole process has embraced our collaborative natures and all at the Theatre are excited about tasting the fruits of our efforts.
