New blog connects beer and travel

Love beer, love travel? Now there’s a way to connect the two

A new blog titled British Beer Breaks has been launched to join the dots between beer and travel, britishbeerbreaks.substack.com.

Regular posts on the blog – currently offering free subscriptions – will bring together news, reviews and insights from the UK’s beer scene with the inside track on local attractions, experiences and activities. It will also recommend the best places for a pint – or two-thirds.

The revival of local pubs in the wake of the pandemic, railway stations where you can enjoy an ale while you wait for your train, farmhouse brewing and art trails in rural Norfolk are among the stories ready to read.

Taking care of the beer for British Beer Breaks is journalist Phil Mellows, drawing on his experience of more than 35 years writing about pubs and brewing. And Kate Simon, the former travel editor of The Independent on Sunday, offers the travel advice.

“There’s something magical about the alchemy of beer and travel,” says Kate. “It’s a potent mix that has the power to transform our experience of a destination and let us touch the very soul of a place.

“We help get the best of both out of different destinations around the UK, with insights and recommendations about how to connect beer and travel.”
