New Business Owners for The Western pub in Leicester!

John and Moira, Sir Robert Peel 2019

Great news for the community surrounding The Western pub in Leicester as current Everards business owners John and Moira Rossiter are delighted to announce that they will be taking this as their second pub!

John and Moira have been in the trade for a long time and have had The Sir Robert Peel pub in Leicester with Everards since 2016, where they welcome locals, De Montfort and Leicester University students, Tigers and Foxes fans, hospital staff and visitors on a weekly basis!

John and Moira love Leicester and they couldn’t think of anywhere else they’d rather have a second pub. John said “We’ve had so much support at the Peel over the years and have great customers that make our pub come alive.

We are passionate about proper pubs and want to keep another traditional pub alive and within its community, especially as pubs are and will continue to disappear and especially because of the current circumstances. We want to put The Western back onto the ‘real ale’ and pub circuit in the local vicinity, just like we have done here at the Peel.

We’ve also been chatting with the team that run ‘Upstairs at the Western’, a well loved and established theatre group who use the space above the pub, which sees 150 plus shows put on per season and hope to welcome them back when we open.”

Although all pubs are currently closed, John and Moira have the keys to The Western and are using this time to get everything in order and ready for opening the doors as soon as they are allowed to.

“We have been busy refreshing and doing some general maintenance at the Peel, together with planning for the opening of The Western.” shares John. “This current situation is a financial drain and has heightened anxiety for the future of our business due to the changes in the inevitable short and medium term of the economy, but we are very excited about The Western and can see just how much potential it has to be a great pub.”

“We are delighted that John and Moira will be taking on The Western. They have created a fantastic pub in The Sir Robert Peel and were worthy winners at the 2019 Everards Make a Difference Awards. They know the area and just what The Western needs, we have no doubt that their careful consider business sense along with their tenacity and fabulous personalities, they will guide the pub back to its rightful place at the heart of the local community.” Said Martin Bailey, Everards Business Relationship Manager.
