New golden goddess

Meet Sulis: meet the ultimate English lager

Pronunciation (classical): (Su•lis)

Some people say lager is boring, but they haven’t tried Sulis. Brewed by Westcountry brewers, Bath Ales, Sulis is a NEW English lager made to exacting standards.

Brewing a lager is a meticulous science. Bath Ales’ senior brewer Darren James has brought together his desire for perfection, and his passion for brewing, to deliver a beautifully balanced cold-lagered golden beer.

Sulis lager (4.4% ABV), inspired by Sulis Minerva – the Roman goddess of Bath – is a new permanent addition to Bath Ales’ existing range of distinctive and authentic English beers.

ultimate taste; ultimate refreshment

Lemon Drop and Hüll Melon hops give the lager a bright freshness and a subtle hint of fruitiness. Born and brewed in the Westcountry, Sulis is light and memorable –  perfect for ‘sessionable’ sipping in the sunshine.

Darren James, senior brewer, Bath Ales, said: “We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from the great lager brewers of Germany to make a classic and moreish beer then hopped it with exciting new hop varieties to give Sulis a unique fresh and subtle fruity flavour profile. The beer is perfectly pale and boasts a crisp and refreshing taste.

“Launching Sulis, our first lager, is a big moment for Bath Ales. We’ve taken the time to get this just right and hope the new beer really challenges drinkers’ perceptions of lager. Sulis is our ultimate English lager and we can’t wait to share it.”

Bath Ales’ lager launch comes ahead of the unveiling of its new brew house in May. The finishing touches are being made to the multi-million-pound project which is set to be south west’s most sophisticated and technologically advanced brewery.

Alongside the Sulis launch, Bath Ales will also be introducing a bold and hoppy west coast IPA into the permanent Bath Ales range – Lansdown (5% ABV). The new 500ml bottle has recently launched into Tesco stores nationwide and will be on cask from May.

Sulis is now available in Tesco stores nationwide (six x 330ml cans; from £6.00). The beer will also be available on draft in select pubs, bars and restaurants in south west England from mid-May. For more information, visit Bathales.com.
