New report from Stay In A Pub

Stay In A Pub, a sister company for Cask Marque, commissioned a 200 page report on pub accommodation, the latter becoming an important income stream for pubs.

The report compares the changes that have occurred in the industry over the last three years and how consumer habits regarding online behaviour have moved on.

Did you know:

  • 41% of the trade call a pub with accommodation an “inn” whereas only 16% of consumers use that terms. An important fact for search engine optimisation (SEO).
  • 48% of consumers would rather stay in a pub than a branded hotel or B&B.
  • 95% of pubs are now on Tripadvisor.
  • 21% of pubs intend to increase the number of rooms and 64% plan a refurbishment in the next 12 months.
  • 81% of pubs have an online booking system with 65% of consumers saying they prefer to book online.
  • 35% of pubs are paying a commission of 16-20% to booking websites (OTA’s).
  • 56% of pubs say rooms increase their food and beverage revenue.
