New Specials for a Brighter Future

Bristol’s pioneering craft brewer Moor Beer Company have three new limited edition specials coming at the end of June.

Moor Beer are excited to be looking with positivity towards the future with a new batch of limited edition special brews that reflect our love of beer styles from all over the world.

First up is Italian Pils – Super crisp and refreshing, this beer is a tribute to our great friend Agostino Arioli, founder of Birrificio Italiano and creator of the beer style Italian Pils with his beer Tipopils. Agostino came to brew our first Pils with us years ago, and we brewed a Bitter at his brewery, sharing ingredients, knowledge, and great times. As we’ve not been able to drink Tipopils fresh during the pandemic, we wanted to put our Moor spin on it and brew it in time for summer garden drinking.

Featuring a heritage Italian malt, Eraclea, this is an Italian Pils with a difference. Expect fresh bread from the malt and yeast interplay, and a gentle but insistent bitterness and fresh herbal flavour from the hops. Italian Pils weighs in at 5.2% ABV and is available in 440ml can and 30 litre keg.

The second beer, True Believer, is a style we love and is a fundamental part of our DNA, so we wanted to revisit it and answer the question: “How do you brew a fabulous West Coast Pale Ale?” The answer is pretty simple – you take a native Californian, who learned to brew in California during the craft beer boom, refresh his memory by immersing him back in the sun and suds, get the right ingredients, and let the magic happen..

The result is a perfect blend of pine, citrus, bitterness and a bit of sunshiny colour. We are true believers of the style, and this beer will make you one too. True Believer hits 5.1% ABV and is available in 440ml cans and 30 litre keg.

Finally, we are excited to introduce our American Strong Ale, a beautiful golden amber ale that is deceptively drinkable at its elevated ABV. Delightfully fruity with mountains of malt flavours, leaving a warming glow at the end. Columbus hops are the perfect match to give this Strong Ale an American feel, perfect for Independence Day. American Strong Ale is 9.5% ABV and available in 20 litre KeyKegs.

All three specials will be launched on 24th June at Moor’s Taprooms in Bristol and Bermondsey, London (all welcome) and will be available for general sale from 27th June. Attendees at Bristol Craft Beer Festival on 10th and 11th June will be able to get advanced sight and taste of the new brews.

All these specials are available direct from the brewery or via a range of wholesalers. Please contact us on 01179 414460 or info@moorbeer.co.uk for more information.

Notes for Editors:

Moor Beer was reborn in 2007 when Californian Justin Hawke purchased the defunct business and created what has become one of the world’s top rated breweries. Named from the Levels and Moors area of Somerset where the brewery originated, Moor Beer moved to central Bristol behind Temple Meads Rail Station in 2014 where we have a Tap Room and shop and host brewery tours.  In 2017 we expanded our reach further by opening a second site on London’s Bermondsey Beer Mile.

We have a simple philosophy at Moor – our beers are always live, always natural and always vegan friendly. Natural fermentation and carbonation with live yeast is at the heart of everything we brew. We firmly believe that live beer has a unique texture, fullness of flavour and softness of mouthfeel that can’t be replicated by faster, cheaper brewing methods. Leaving live yeast and other flavour compounds in beer enhances aroma, flavour, appearance and mouth feel. It also makes the beer vegan friendly. Our belief that adding isinglass finings to beer has a negative impact on quality is why we pioneered the unfined natural vegan beer movement in the UK.

For Moor, beer is about flavour, drinkability and enjoyment, a philosophy we combine with inspiration that has come from living around the world and working with different beer styles and techniques. We take the German, naturally hazy philosophy, combine it with the American flavour-forward approach to brewing and the British secondary refermentation tradition to create beers that are full flavoured, often hoppy, but always incredibly balanced and drinkable.

All our beers are brewed and packaged the same way for a full natural conditioning in all our formats – cask, keg, can and bottle. This means you get the same awesome beer unfined, unfiltered and unpasteurised whether you’re drinking it in the pub or on your journey.  Our beers pair particularly well with good food, good company, good times and good music. Live life, drink live!
