Nomadic Beers Tap Takeover & Meet the Brewer
at The Cumberland Arms, Newcastle
Thursday 28th February 2019 6pm Onward
After a successful Tap Takeover at the Town Mouse in Newcastle last year, Nomadic Beers make a return to the North East on Thursday 28th February for a Meet the Brewer and Tap Takeover at the Cumberland Arms.
Dr. Katie Marriott (AKA ‘Gaffa’ Katie) is the owner of Nomadic Beers, who are based just outside Leeds City Centre. Nomadic Beers has just recently celebrated its 2nd Birthday and brewing on a brand new, larger brew kit is set to start soon.
“We really enjoy putting a modern twist on traditional beer styles” says Katie. “We don’t brew sours, saisons & Milkshake IPAs, but what we do really well are pales, bitters and stouts!”
Nomadic Beers will be bringing 9 beers to drink on both cask and keg. As well as core range beers like best bitter ‘Strider’, there will also be some specials to try too.
“One of the beers we’re bringing is called ‘Huitaca’ a 6.9% Baltic Porter” adds Katie. “This is a special brew I made with the female management team at Whitelock’s and Turk’s Head pubs in Leeds, as part of International Women’s Day celebrations”
The Cumberland Arms will be the only place to try ‘Huitaca’ outside of Leeds. Katie continues “I’m really looking forward to be coming back to Newcastle and to be able to bring ‘Huitaca’ too! It’s exciting to see what people will think of this beer”
Katie will be joined on the evening by Beer Evangelist ‘Mosaic’ Mike Hampshire.
“Unfortunately, Head Brewer Ross (Ross Nicholson) couldn’t make the trip, so I’ve asked Mike to come along and help to talk people through our beers” said Katie.
“It’s not often I get to Newcastle, so I’m looking forward to the Meet the Brewer event at the Cumberland Arms.” said Mike.
Nomadic’s Tap Takeover & Meet the Brewer will take place at the Cumberland Arms in Newcastle from 6pm on Thursday 28th February; entry is free.
