North Leeds Charity Beer Festival 2015 – 27th/28th/29th March

This Friday sees the opening of the much anticipated North Leeds Charity Beer Festival at its new home of North Leeds Cricket Club, The Homestead, Old Park Road, Leeds.

Now in its fourth year, the festival is the brainchild of British Guild of Beer Writer’s Sam Parker and is held in conjunction with the Roundhay Rotary Club. Sam commented: “It is great to see good beer drank for good causes and this year we have 18 London(ish) beers being brought in especially to go head to head with 18 of Leeds’ finest.” With beers from Rebellion Beer Co, Hackney, Twickenham, Weird Beard and the rarely seen Florence brewery, amongst others, it certainly will be an event that beer lovers won’t want to miss.

Having raised over £10,000 since its inception, this year the festival is once again raising money for Rotary Charities as well as supporting the cricket club. “We aim to give a sizable donation to the cricket club with other monies funding projects such as Gipton Together, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, work with the Leeds General Infirmary and our fight to end Polio.” Said former Roundhay Rotary President David Hawkin. “We also couldn’t do this without the help of our sponsors which this year includes great support from Morley Glass & Glazing as well as our regular glass sponsor Leeds Brewery”.

There really is something for everyone with Wilsons of Crossgates supplying their award winning pies and Bier Huis of Ossett providing local ciders.

The festival has a reputation for great music as well as beer and this year will be no exception with 12 bands performing over the 3 days. Bill’s Elastic Band make a welcome comeback alongside festival regulars Moonshine Five and the Bluesharks, who this year are joined by the much anticipated Waley & the Marlers.  With the Roundhay Ukulele Band starting the proceedings on Friday this really is a lineup not to miss!!

The festival runs from 18:00 – 23:00 Friday 27th March, 12:00 – 23:00 Saturday 28th and this year includes 12:00 – 18:00 Sunday 29th. Tickets are available on the door or at a discount through Skiddle.com
