Guild members Des de Moor and Roger Protz are hosting a tasting and a talk at the North London Brew Fest, which runs at the award winning Snooty pub in Highbury from Thursday 1st to Saturday 3rd February. and is an epic celebration of all things beery! Now in its ninth year of holding beer festivals, this one will be action packed.
With 25 craft cask and keg beers from the most exciting micro-breweries across the nation there will be something for everyone to try and enjoy. Alongside the wide range of beers on offer we have two heavyweight experts from the beer world hosting talks, discussions and a beer tasting tutorial. There will also be an opportunity to meet the brewers behind two of the most exciting new London breweries.
Roger Protz – Thursday 1 February 7pm: Free Entry. Opening the festival is renowned beer journalist, campaigner,author and editor of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, Roger Protz who will host a talk on the legendry beer style India Pale Ale – focusing on the history, journey and popular revival of this beer. Drinkers will be able to get a signed copy of Roger’s new book IPA – A Legend in Our Time at a special discount price of £15.
Des de Moor – Friday 2nd February 7pm: Tickets £22 from www.designmynight.com Des de Moor, the multiaward- winning beer writer, author of the CAMRA Guide to London’s Best Beer, Pubs and Bars and all-round beer expert will host a lively and enthusiastic Belgium Beer tutorial. Even in the midst of the craft beer revolution of recent years, Belgium remains the world’s most outstanding beer country and a source of inspiration for brewers everywhere. At Des’ tasting, we invite you to discover five outstanding Belgian classics from a sprightly saison to strong, dark Trappist ale, including unique spontaneously fermented lambic and wood-aged Flemish red beers.
Meet the men behind the beer. We have meet the brewer sessions with Sam Dickinson from Hackney’s Boxcar Brewery on Friday 2nd and Reece Wood from Bianca Road Brewing Co who will talk about the modern West Coast American style beers that influence him on Saturday 3rd.
