The doors to North’s Manchester taproom are set to open next month – bringing beers from North Brewing Co and friends, wines, cocktails, modern Asian Street Food, to the new development at Circle Square.
The doors to North Taproom: Circle Square are set to open on Tuesday 3rd January bringing Manchester a brand-new drinking spot, with a varied drinks offering, outstanding Asian street food, and warm, friendly service.
Renowned for their alternative approach, quirky style and excellent, table service, North is a warm and welcoming space catering for all. North’s 24 draught lines showcase the core range from their Leeds brewery, alongside limited-edition specials and guest beers, which are served alongside an extensive and ever-changing line-up of wines, cocktails, ciders and spirits from an eclectic range of local and international producers, including an impressive low and no alcohol offering. Fellow Leeds-based brand, Little Bao Boy, will be taking care of the food menu, serving up contemporary Asian street food seven days a week.
Located at Circle Square, the new development from Vita and Bruntwood, the North Taproom is 5 minutes’ walk from Oxford Road station. The modern glass building creates a light and airy space with 100 seats inside, space for an additional 40 standing guests and a large outside seating area (with heaters for the winter nights!). The design is playful and inviting, with plywood, plants and a focus on design throughout. The overall effect is an open, light taproom with a Scandi feel. The large bar is the focal point of the taproom, situated next to two double fridges packed with beers to go and a mixture of high and low seating.
All are welcome in North’s inclusive and friendly space, including children and well-behaved dogs. Tables are offered on a walk-in only basis – no bookings necessary.
The taproom will have 24 draught lines, including 16 lines of keg beer and 2 cask, showcasing North’s ever-evolving range of core, specials and collabs. The North team love working with friends, so guests can expect an eclectic array of guest breweries on the Manchester taproom line-up. To celebrate the opening of the taproom North have collaborated with local favourites Track brewing an IPA which will be on the opening tap line up. Beyond beer, guests can enjoy a rotating selection of cocktails, wine, fizz, spirits and a variety of grown-up no and low alcohol options.
The North team will be joined at the Manchester taproom by their good friends and fellow Leeds-based independent, Little Bao Boy, who will be serving up a menu of contemporary Asian street food every day. A small selection of sides will include gyoza and loaded fries, as well as occasional specials.
North are inviting guest to sign up for a beer on the house when they open via this link. https://pages.airship.co.uk/forms/986/circle-square-launch

About North
North was founded by John Gyngell and Christian Townsley in Leeds in 1997. They opened their original venue, North Bar, with the shared vision of blending global craft beer and local breweries, interesting wines and spirits, great quality food, and eclectic music and art. North Bar quickly became renowned for its alternative approach, quirky style and excellent, friendly service.
They have since grown to eight venues in Leeds and the surrounding area: from Preston Bar nestled in leafy Oakwood, to the cycling hub at North Bar Social in Otley, to their slick city centre taproom on Sovereign Square. With growth has come a string of awards and accolades from the likes of Imbibe, The Observer, The Publican Awards and the Society of Independent Brewers. In 2015 they founded North Brewing Co, a global brewery with an independent heart, born out of a love of food, drink and hospitality.
In 2022 North took their first steps outside their home county, opening their ninth venue in Birmingham, followed closely by a tenth in Manchester. Beyond a passion for great beer, North is built on creating communities of like-minded people, offering exciting and innovative spaces that are inclusive, friendly and fun.
