Oakham Ales launches new Session Stout

‘We’re very good at pale, hop-forward beers, but we decided it’s time for the malt to shine here at Oakham” says process brewer Ollie Jones. Craft brew legends Oakham Ales are releasing their latest beer, Session Stout this week. An easy-going 4.0% ABV, this refreshing beer blends layers of flavour; combining floral and berry aromas with deep dark chocolate notes underpinned by roasted coffee. It has just a hint of bitterness, creating a deliciously well-balanced and crisp ale.

Available to trade in cask only, this flavoursome new dark beer will be hitting pubs around the country from 28th March. It is the brainchild of Ollie and lead brewer Ed Sharman. Ed wanted to take on a new challenge for this one-off brew. ‘It’s not always easy to make a dark beer that has a lot going on but is still refreshing and crisp, so we’re really pleased with how it’s turned out’ Ed said. “The idea was to make something that you could go back to again and again without being overwhelmed and we believe we’ve hit the nail on the head!’

Ed and Ollie will be at The Brewery Tap on Westgate, Peterborough on 1st April, giving an informal Meet the Brewers session to launch the beer and give trade and Tap customers alike the chance to enjoy a sample of their new creation. They will be at the pub from 4pm until around 7.30pm and all are welcome to join them and raise a glass of Session Stout.
