Oddbins embraces London’s love affair with local ales with the launch of its first beer-only store in Blackheath
London, UK – March 2015: Oddbins, the nation’s favourite high-street wine, spirits and beer merchant, has opened a dedicated beer store in Blackheath, London.
The new destination for beer lovers will be a celebration of all things hoppy, tantalising the taste buds of craft ale aficionados across the city and will consolidate the retailer’s position as a champion of the British craft beer industry.
London is rapidly becoming a global beer capital, with new breweries popping up in nearly every borough and with consumers who are clamouring for tasty and distinctive locally produced ales.
Oddbins’ maiden beer-only concept store will provide Londoners with 300 beers – three quarters of which will come from the UK, with the remainder coming from a number of countries around the world.
Ayo Akintola, Managing Director of Oddbins, said: “Forget mass produced, identikit lagers. The British beer drinker now has a dazzling choice of fantastic locally made beers and we are proud to be supporting this burgeoning industry by offering our customers an unparalleled choice of craft ales.
“The new store is about raising a glass to our brewers, our hop farmers and everyone else who are working tirelessly to create a new golden age for British beer. We are committed to local suppliers who have a true passion for their craft so expect more top quality UK craft beers to be listed and sold across the various Oddbins outlets over the country.”
With beer sales in the UK at a ten year high, Oddbins has already established itself as a major player in the UK craft beer scene. The innovative store launch follows the triumph of the retailer’s own-brand series of innovative collaboration beers, which saw sales of locally produced craft beers in Oddbins stores rise by 37 per cent over the last 12 months.
The pioneering concept store in London will serve as a platform for engaging with customers to further open the city’s eyes to the diverse world of craft beer. Many of the beers at the Blackheath store will also be available atwww.oddbins.com.
Store address: Oddbins Beer Store, 13 Tranquil Vale, Blackheath, London.
