The Sussex Yeoman in Brighton has reopened after a £230,000 investment by pub owner Greene King Pub Partners.
The pub will now be operated by multiple operator Matt Short, who also runs four other pubs in partnership with Greene King Pub Partners including O’Connor’s in Worthing and The Spanish Lady in Saltdean.
The Sussex Yeoman had previously been run by another Greene King Pub Partners tenant for 18 years, who made the decision to retire at the end of 2022.
The £230,000 investment has been used to fully redevelop The Sussex Yeoman inside and out.
Inside, the private accommodation above the pub, the kitchen and the pub’s trading areas have all been refurbished and refitted. New seating and benches have been installed in the pub to enhance the customer experience along with a re-sanded and re-varnished bar.
The toilets in the pub have also been upgraded as well as the cellar including all new dispense equipment.
Outside, the pub has all new signage, painting and lighting to increase curb appeal.
As a community pub, The Sussex Yeoman will provide a wet led, sports focussed offer along with a pub classics food offer including Sunday roasts.
Dan Robinson, Managing Director of Greene King Pub Partners, said:
“Our £230,000 investment in The Sussex Yeoman has given this community local a new lease of life.
“Matt is an experienced operator and knows the local market in Brighton well. I am delighted to be continuing our successful partnership with him.”
Matt Short, Operator of The Sussex Yeoman, said:
“As an operator always looking at new opportunities to grow, I am delighted to have taken on the Sussex Yeoman.
“The pub will be a proper community local appealing to everyone – be it for a catch-up with friends, the sport or a bite to eat. We cannot wait to welcome customers back into the new look pub.”
